As most of you probably know by now, I’m always on the hunt for cleaner/safer beauty products to try out. I have a “flush balm” cream blush from Merit arriving this week that I’m reallyyy excited for. I love the hydrated wash of color it’s meant to leave on the skin. I ordered this shade and will do a little review after some wearing. You can see it in action here. PS I feel like browns/tans/neutrals are having a moment.
Here’s what I’m using when I do throw some makeup on:
Base:
Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 in shade light. It gives the skin a nice glow and is also a hydrating base for more full coverage foundation. I like it because it’s emollient enough to apply with fingers if you want, but a beauty blender or brush work well, too. If you’re new to makeup, this is a fool-proof, impossible to mess up product.
Beautycounter’s Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation in shade medium 310. This is a medium coverage, buildable foundation with a natural finish. If you’re into a super dewy foundation look like you get from the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, add a couple drops of your favorite face oil (I love this one) or layer over top of Dew Skin or a hydrating primer. I like the natural finish of this because I don’t worry about smearing it on my shirts, pillowcases, or on Will.
Beautycounter’s Skin Twin Creamy Concealer in shade medium 1. A medium to full coverage, buildable, natural finish concealer. A few tiny dots wherever you need it is plenty!
Cheeks:
Sometimes I go no-blush because I can run a little red on my cheeks. That’s also why I’m eager to try this terracotta flush balm from Merit, and I like that it could double as a bronzer.
My bronzer from Beautycounter is sold out, and the company is reformulating all their powder products this year to no longer include talc. There are a couple shades left to grab before they’re gone for good.
I’ve also heard great things about the Beautycounter Color Pinch Cream Blusher in caramel as a blush/bronzer hybrid. It’s on my personal to-try list.
Eyes:
Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Lash Primer. The priming end of the mascara didn’t do anything for me, but the mascara itself is great and I actually like it more every time I use it. The wand is straight instead of curved so it took some adjusting to. It’s difficult to formulate clean mascaras, and this one is buildable without getting too clumpy. I do wipe off some product before applying because I think it’s more forgiving that way.
RMS Eye Polish in shade Utopia. This eye polish is buildable and blendable and I prefer applying it with my fingers to help the product melt into the skin. Press a little bit into the center of your eyelid for a brightening effect.
(Not a clean product) Benefit Eyebrow Pencil in shade 4. This has been the only brow product I’ve used for the last 3-4 years and it just never lets me down and lasts all day. I recently have been trying this one from Rare Beauty for my brow gel.
So glad you popped by today! Thank you for reading.
