Mike and I are on an extra strict budget these days, but our stomachs and love of Indian, wine, pizza, sushi…the list goes on, don’t always seem to be on board with that. Being in Brooklyn, the convenient daily access to some of the most delicious food in the world is enough to make me somehow find an extra twenty or thirty bucks deep in my pockets that I “don’t have” just to enjoy something incredible. It’s especially tempting if the food is unique. A quick plug for Roberta’s in Bushwick. It’s some of the best pizza I’ve had, period, but when you go, you have to try the Beesting Pizza. An addictive combination of fresh tomato sauce, thinly sliced pepperoni, mozzarella, chili flakes and honey, you’ll eat the entire thing before you take a breath. It’s not on the menu, but your waiter will know just what it is!
Regardless, there’s something wonderful about cooking your own meal, drinking cheap wine, and planting it on the couch. This past Saturday night, instead of going out, Mike and I made a childhood school night favorite…
English muffin pizzas! But to make these pizzas a little extra special, I added one more ingredient: a fried egg. If you haven’t tried this yet, I highly recommend it!
What are some of your favorite go-to meals at home for date nights in?
